ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The former Cardinals executive who pleaded guilty to hacking into the Houston Astros computer system, was scheduled to be sentenced today. But the prison-time or fine Correa faces won’t be announced until July 18.

Christopher Correa faces up to 25 years in prison and a quarter-million dollar fine. He’ll also have to pay $279,000 restitution.

This is the fourth time the sentencing date was rescheduled. It was originally set for April 11, then postponed to April 18 due to Correa’s lawyer saying he was in the middle of a trial and couldn’t ‘schedule and participate in Correa’s presentence report interview.’

It was last moved back to June 6, then again moved to July 5, and last month the Houston Chronicled reported another move to July 18. Court records suggest the move was again a request by Correa’s lawyer, David Adler.

The Cardinals former scouting director pleaded guilty in January to five counts of unauthorized access of a protecting computer during 2013 and 2014.

Major League Baseball says it will wait until all the facts of the case are reviewed before possibly punishing the Cardinals further. Many experts are saying that could amount to a loss of draft picks and/or fines.
